I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267.
My current Fide is 1946, my ECF is 1945 and my ICCF is 2346.

Summing Up Kenilworth
MY score in the English 65+ championship of +2=2-1 (I also took two halfpoint byes) gained eight ECF elo and 14.2 Fide elo.
I'm always happy when my rating is going up, but I have to be realistic: effectively my plus score depended on finding one move in round four that turned a loss into a win.
Fair point. Perhaps I'm feeling a little down because I lost in the last round - it's never pleasant to end on a negative note (perhaps that's one reason why many players are keen to agree quick draws in the last round!).
I think its a good result, there where some strong players.
ReplyDeleteUp to the next one!
