BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1902, my ECF is 1913 and my ICCF is 2277.

Czeching In

FLEW to Brno this afternoon for the CzechTour's Olomouc summer festival, which, apart from a publicity simul earlier today, starts tomorrow at Olomouc's Flora hotel.

There are five main tournaments: three round-robin norm events, an open and a seniors.

I have entered the seniors, which is for players aged 50+, with nine rounds over eight days, and a time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes, plus 30 minutes to finish and a 30-second increment from move one.

The 92 entries in the seniors can be seen at SE.
