FLEW to Mallorca yesterday with Joe Skielnik for the 19th Calvià chess festival, which is being held in Palmanova, a few hundred yards along the coast from where we are staying in Magaluf.
The main tournament is a nine-round swiss for players who are rated U2350 and who do not have the IM or GM title.
There are 154 entries (
C), including eight registered with England (
CE).
The first seven rounds, starting this evening, are at 8pm, with the final two rounds at 3.30pm and 10am.
