BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1919, my ECF is 1921 and my ICCF is 2356.

Summing Up My 4NCL Weekend

MY score for Wessex B of +1=0-1 lost 8.2 Fide elo and 6.0 ECF elo.

Unfortunately the weekend was spoilt by tables being placed so close together that some chairs were almost touching back-to-back.

This was completely unnecessary as there was plenty of space in the playing room for the tables to have been set up properly.

To be fair, the hotel specified there had to be a large gap between the tables and fire exits for safety reasons.

I haven't noticed such cramped conditions at a 4NCL event before. I think the tables were just badly laid out this time; but if you're right, then a larger/second room should have been used.
