BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1885, my ECF is 1924 and my ICCF is 2277.

Good Wörishofen (part six)

MY luck ran out with a vengeance in round five.
Having built a huge advantage in the opening, I completely misjudged the middlegame, seriously underestimating my opponent's dynamic counter-chances.

Position after 26...Re8-d8 in Spanton (1901) - Alfred Kerber (1939)

The game finished:
27.Rxe3??
27.Rxd3 would have been much better, although Black has all the chances after 27...Rxd3.
27...Rd1+ 28.Kf2 Qxf4+ 29.Qf3 R8d2 0-1.
