Is This The Future Of Chess?

THIS photo was taken at a seniors' tournament that finished yesterday in Bischofsgrün, Bavaria.
As you can see, the competitors did not have to wear protective equipment.
But each game was played with two sets, and with a clock that probably meant many players had to stand, or at least raise themselves off their seats, to operate.
I suspect disabled players would be at something of a disadvantage under these conditions.
And time scrambles, I imagine, required an assertive arbiter or extreme goodwill between opponents.
The tournament was run by ChessOrg, which also runs one of my all-time favourite events,  Bad Wörishofen. You can see more photos at http://chessorg.de/bischofsgruen.php
