I won in 68 moves, and I am fairly sure it was the last Challengers game to finish.
In the afternoon I lost horribly in 32 moves to English junior Edward Jackson (1435 Fide/1893 ECF).
I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 2009, my ECF is 1955 and my ICCF is 2325.
I was sceptical at first but on reflection it seems like rather a good idea of the tournament organizer to use both ratings. It does rather highlight discrepancies. Maybe this should be obligatory in all events? I understand they are using the highest rating for section entries but are they doing likewise for rating prizes?
ReplyDeleteNot sure - it's somewhat academic in my case. I do know pairings are being done by Fide rating
