BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1902, my ECF is 1913 and my ICCF is 2277.

Civil War

PLAYED on board two (of eight) tonight for Battersea 2 against Battersea 1 in the London League Division One West.

Thanks to the match being played at our home venue, everyone ignored the league's rule about mandatory facemasking.

I drew with black in 61 moves against Philipp Even (2014 ECF), but Battersea 2 lost the match 3.5-4.5, not least due to defaulting on board five.

Pity your Battersea captains are not so quick on the draw! The result has yet to appear on the LCL website. If the result isn’t there by the end of tomorrow the games won’t be rated until January 2022. Chase ‘em up Tim!
