Perhaps it only comes on, and then with very little cooling effect, when the card-key to the room is in the slot.
But I found my plug adapter ... attached to the lead from my laptop. I had forgotten placing it there in case I found myself kicking my heels at Bucharest airport (I did, but I was kicking them while waiting in a minibus rather than in the terminal).
It is just as well because the shops in Poiana Brașov are either ski-orientated or roadside shacks selling souvenirs and children's toys.
