Cracking On

AM making final preparations for flying to Poland tomorrow for the annual Cracovia chess festival in the former capital Kraków.
I have entered the 60+ seniors, which has 44 players and a time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes to finish, and a 30-second increment throughout.
There are nine rounds over nine days, but with a double-round on Monday and a free day on January 1.
The venue is Hotel Galaxy, on the edge of the old town and beside the Vistula river.
I stayed there last year, enjoying everything except the lousy wifi.
So this year I am staying in a much cheaper chain on the other side of the old town - a 3km walk away, according to Google Maps.

CORRECTION (27/12/24): I had forgotten that my memory is not what it used to be - Hotel Galaxy is nowhere near the old town, but it is beside the Vistula.

  1. Good choice to find another hotel.
Enjoy your stay and the games!

  2. I'm hoping for an upturn in form, and perhaps a chain hotel, where you know what you are going to get, will help!

    1. I thought the Hilton Garden Inn was good when I went to Krakow a few years ago, although it is on the opposite side of town to the Galaxy hotel and a tram ride away from it.

    2. It's the other side of the river from the venue, but according to Google Maps is slightly closer than the hotel I've booked!
