RAIN was again correctly forecast for yesterday afternoon, but as my game again finished fairly quickly, I was able to set out walking before noon.
This time I chose the Geo Route, which is designed to highlight Bad Bertrich's volcanic past.
| Steep paths through lava flows provide a mild but fun via-ferrata experience |
| Old Lippi's cave is hollowed out of volcanic rock |
| But as with the previous day's walk, I emerged onto a plain |
| I took a small detour - less than half a mile - to "Mosel Blick," without having a clue what I was supposed to be looking at (turns out Mosel Blick is German for Moselle View, not that I saw any river) |
| Nearby was a shrine, with two trees apparently standing sentinel |
| Inside the shrine |
| Returning to the Geo Route, I almost immediately passed another shrine, again with two guardian trees |
| Inside the second shrine |
| I again lunched on studentenfutter and sparking water, before starting what turned out to be quite a steep descent to the town, arriving at my hotel well before the rain |
