WENT to the Chess & Bridge shop in Baker Street yesterday to buy The Secret Ingredient To Winning At Chess by Jan Markos and David Navara.
The Secret Ingredient |
When the book was published by Quality Chess last year I ignored it as it had such a silly title, and anyway I have scores of unread chess books, and even more awaiting study.
But then I saw on ChessBase that The Secret Ingredient had won the Yuri Averbakh/Isaac Boleslavsky Award for the best chess book published last year.
And when I checked out reviews of the book, it was hard not to be impressed.
Having said that, flicking through the book has not boosted my hopes ... but the proof of the pudding will be in the reading.
