Macedonian Venture

FLEW to North Macedonia yesterday for the world team senior championships, which are being held at Hotel Izgrev on Lake Ohrid.

The hotel's address suggests it is in the lakeside resort of Struga, but that town is getting on for being four miles away, as I discovered when going for a walk after checking into the hotel.

But the walk into town that gave me plenty to look at and to gain favourable first impressions, which included the lake, a monastery and a wild tortoise.
