STRUGA is the nearest town of any size to Hotel Izgrev, where the world team senior championships start tomorrow.
It straddles the River Black Drim (aka Drin), which is the only outlet, apart from evaporation, for water in Lake Ohrid.

Looking from a wooden bridge on the Drim towards a reed bed that divides the water as it drains from Lake Ohrid |
Looking the other way gives a good sense of the water's speed |
"BECAUSE THE SPEED OF THE WATER, BATHING IS A RISKY!" |
Despite embanking, the water soon slows as it passes through Struga |

Another view of the reed bed |
