Gallagher (2171/205) - Spanton (1951/168)
Queen's Fianchetto Opening
1.b3 b6 2.e4 e5?!
The simple 2...Bb7 is both obvious and good.
3.Nf3 Nc6 4.Bb2 f6?!
There are lines against 1.b3 where Black blockades White's dark-square bishop with ...e5 and ...f6, but here such a set-up is mostly weakening.
5.Bc4 Nge7 6.0-0 Na5 7.Be2 Bb7 8.d4 exd4 9.Nxd4
On 9.e5, I was seriously considering 9...Bxf3!? 10.Bxf3 fxe5 11.Bxa8 Qxa8, although it is desperate stuff. Stockfish10 and Komodo10 like the more-restrained 9...Ng6.
9...Bxe4?
Grabbing a pawn when behind in development and with an uncastled king is rarely wise. The engines suggest 9...Nac6, albeit with advantage to White.
10.Nc3 d5?
This loosening move makes matters worse.

11.b4
White is completely winning.
11...Nac6 12.Nxc6 Nxc6 13.Bb5 Qd7 14.Nxe4 dxe4 15.Qh5+ g6 16.Qh4 0-0-0 17.Bxf6 Be7
There is nothing better.
18.Bxc6 Qxc6 19.Bxe7 Rd5 20.Qf6 Qe8 21.Qe6+ Rd7 22.Qxe4!?
This loses the bishop, but keeps a winning position. The engines point out 22.Rad1 Qxe7 23.Qc6.
22...Rxe7 23.Qa8+ Kd7 24.Qd5+ Kc8 25.Qa8+ Kd7 26.Rad1+ Ke6 27.Qf3 1-0
