FLEW to Alicante today for the annual tournament in Benidorm, which starts tomorrow at a new venue.

It used to be at the Gran Hotel Bali in the quieter poniente end of the resort.

This year it is at the Hotel Meliá in the livelier levante sector.

The tournament is split into two sections, U2400 and U2000, and is one-round-a-day for nine days.

Originally four of us were going as a group, but two dropped out this week because of covid fears.

That leaves me and Ray Kearsley to uphold England's honour in the the U2000.
