BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1902, my ECF is 1913 and my ICCF is 2277.

ACO 65+ Round Five

LOST with black in 36 moves after being downfloated against Germany's Heinz Matitschka (1876) in the first of today's double-round games.

Weather has been mixed, to say the least, but is due to change for the better today, so I hope to go exploring on tomorrow's free day

Well done this afternoon. You're still a contender! Big game and another up float on Monday. On Sunday you could try the day trip to Bodrum and visit the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, but actually little remains of one of the seven wonders of the world. And there's the Museum of Underwater Archaeology in the Castle, although it closes for lunch! The Hotel Reception can probably offer information. See you next week.

My plan tomorrow is to walk to the nearby town of Kardamaina, which is supposed to be very pretty, and maybe walk up to the castle above. In any event, I am starting a diet ...
