The nine-round tournament is divided into two categories, 50+ and 65+, with a time control of 40 moves in 90 minutes, plus 30 minutes to finish, and a 30-second increment throughout.
Matches are played over four boards, but teams are allowed to have five players to rotate appearances.
There are 10 teams in the 50+, and 18 in the 65+, with England's first teams seeded No1 in both sections, which is hardly surprising when they include seven grandmasters.
I am playing for England's 65+ third team, the line-up being: 1 David Tucker (1898), 2 Tim Spanton (1800), 3 Colin Costello (1881), 4 Robert Kane (1723 - captain).
