It looks like one or more of us will be going to the following events.
Cap Negret, Nov 12-18
A new seniors' event with sections for players 65+ and 50+ in Altea, Alicante.
Benidorm, Dec 1-8
The 20th edition of this very popular Spanish festival, this time with open and U2000 sections.
Kraków, Dec 27-Jan 4
This major Polish set of tournaments includes a section for 60+ seniors and is being held at what I understand will be the venue for the world team seniors' championships in July.
Seville, Jan 12-20
The 49th edition of this Spanish open.
Part of the CzechTour, it includes round-robin norm tournaments, an open and a 50+ seniors.
Cambridge, Feb 19-24
The second edition of this open already has 93 entrants.
Bad Wörishofen, Mar 8-16
The 39th holding of this ChessOrg.de event has an open, an U2000, and a seniors for men born before 1965 and women before 1975.
Tegernsee, Apr 6-14
Registration for this 50+ seniors' event in a particularly picturesque part of Bavaria opens on November 20.
Bregenz, May 4-12
This Austrian event consists of a nine-round open and, for seniors (men born before 1965, women before 1970), a seven-round tournament starting a day later and finishing a day earlier.
See you at the Gran Bali and Krakow in July, all being well 😉
ReplyDeleteGran Bail definitely - not sure about July yet. Still waiting to hear where the British and Scottish championships will be.
DeleteI'm always interested to know where you're going because I'm also looking for good European tournaments to play in. It's a pity that most of those you've listed for next year either clash with 4NCL weekends or have a lot of rounds starting in the morning.
ReplyDeleteYes, 4NCL clashes are always unfortunate. But I find morning starts can be good, especially if there is interesting walking in the area as it means one can get in a bit of a hike without worrying about tiring too much before a round later in the day. Having said that, there are pluses and minuses to all start times.
