BEAU CHESS - the post-work workings-out of a chess amateur

I begin this blog after getting back into league chess following many years' absence due to work. My post-job status also means I am able to play more tournament chess. My new club in London is Battersea and my first game for them is on Thursday September 14, 2017. I start with a Fide rating of 1858, an ECF grade of 169 (=1968 elo) and an ICCF correspondence rating of 2267. My current Fide is 1902, my ECF is 1913 and my ICCF is 2277.

Good News, Bad News

THE bad news is confirmation that the annual Guernsey chess festival will not be held this year, as the notice below at the island chess federation's website shows.

The good news is that, contrary to rumours, the notice implies the festival is not just a thing of the past.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Due to the Covid 19 virus the Guernsey Chess Federation very much regrets to confirm the cancellation of the 46th Guernsey International Chess Festival. We very much hope that all our chess friends will understand that in making this decision we consider the safety of players to be of paramount importance. We hope to see you again in the future.

Hi Tim your comments are referring to tournament in 2021 not 2022 sadly and the chances of 2022 very unlikely sadly
