Weekend Chess

MOST of my tournament chess is in nine-round events across Europe.

However the 90-day limit on being in the Schengen area post-Brexit means I had to cancel a planned trip to Mallorca this month.

That gives me the chance to play closer to home, which in turn means mainly weekend events.

Later this month is a 4NCL congress at the Mercure hotel on the outskirts of Daventry, Northants.

But before then, starting this evening, is a London League congress at the Mindsports Centre, Hammersmith.

There are two main sections - open and U1800 - with a time limit of 90 minutes, plus a 30-second increment, and there is also a section for players rated U1000 ECF.

The rounds for the two main sections are 6.30pm tonight, and then 10am and 3pm tomorrow and Sunday.
