Star Turn

OLOMOUC has an astronomical clock, one of only two in the Czech Republic (the other is in Prague).
The Olomouc clock was built some 600 years ago - the exact date is not known, but work may have begun in 1419.
It was badly shot up by retreating German soldiers in 1945, and rebuilt in socialist realism-style by the communist authorities in 1955.
Unfortunately the town hall, which includes the clock, is currently covered in scaffolding with all-enveloping covers.
So here instead is a picture of a Soviet war memorial to Red Army troops who died in the Olomouc area.
