BAD Herrenalb has two large supermarkets, within about 100 metres of each other on the outskirts of town.

Depending on where your accommodation is, you are either spoilt for choice or face a mini-hike every time groceries are needed.

The road to the supermarkets is lined with trees.

The trees are numbered, but don't scoff - it seems to work: there have been no reported thefts of trees in over 20 years

In the distance can be seen a granite formation known as Falkenfelsen or Falkensteinfelsen - in other words, Falcon Rock

The walk up to the top of the rock is quite short, but steep.
